Obituary for Joy Lee Moore

Joy Lee (Goings) Moore was born on December 27, 1959 to Carl E. Goings and Genevieve D. Greenwade. She was a fighter from her birth. She was premature and wasn’t expected to survive, but God had other plans. She grew up in Latty, Ohio and loved the country. She graduated from Wayne Trace High School.

In her twenties, Joy gave her life to the Lord and has been on fire for God ever since. Jesus was EVERYTHING to her. One of her greatest joys was when she became an Ordained Minister. She began to Pastor at House of Zion with Carmen and Victoria Mitchell.

Joy worked for Family Christian Bookstore for many years. She made life long connections with people while working at the bookstore. She prayed for people that “thought” they were just coming in for a book. She had a way of knowing what the customer needed as soon they walked through the door. It was more than a job for her, it was truly a ministry. Joy had so many gifts. She was an intercessor, prayer warrior, counselor, encourager, mentor, confidant, and a woman that loved all people. She walked with people through anything (good and bad). She was a woman of GREAT FAITH and was a breathtaking reflection of God’s love and Christ’s Heart to the world. To know Joy was to know the heartbeat of God.

Joy passed away on March 6th due to stage 4 cancer.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Joseph & Juanita Greenwade and George & Beatrice Goings, Mother Genevieve Greenwade Goings-Turner, Father Carl E. Goings, Uncle Charles Greenwade Sr., Aunt Joey Kyser, and Nephew Vashon Goings Jr.
