Obituary for Sam A Hannibal

Sam Arthur Hannibal, 85, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 22, 2018, in his home Je was born March 8, 1932 to Samuel Arthur and Viola (Wadlington) Hannibal, in Durant, Mississippi.
He attended elementry and high school in Durant, Sam was a honorary discharged veteran and served his country in the U.S. Army. He earned his Bachelors Degree from Jackson State University in 1955 in Jackson, MS and his Masters Degree in Mathematics from Michigan State. and continued his Post Graduate classes and was close to receiving his Doctorate.
He was a brother of Alha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
On March 25, 1978 while on a trip on an airplane going to Memphis,Tennessee, he met the beautiful Annette Tucker Johnson, in which in dlater married.
He taught in Cincinnati, Ohio and Durant, Mississipoi and retired from High Scooe Educational Consultants after 30 years of employment.
He enjoyed sports, going to the Kentucky Derby, Jackson State University Football games,Southern Heritage football games, travelling, and playing Bid Whist....he loved to WIN, spending time with family and never missed a family Reunion. He loved to cook and bake and was oftentimes at home and familly gatherings frying fish and preparing hush puppies.
After submitting his DNA to African ancestry, we know that the Hannibal bloodline is from the Umbundu People" living in Angola Africa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.
Sam leaves to cherish his memories, wife Annette;sons, Leon (Jackie) of atlanta, GA, Gregory and Jamaal Hannibal, of Toledo, daughter, Lorraine Walker, sister, Bedalia (Clarence) Truttling, of Gary, IN; 27 grandchhildren, 3 great-grand-children
