William T. Watson Jr. "Bill" was born February 3, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio to the union of the late Mr. William T. Watson Sr. and Mrs. Odessa Watson. Bill passed away January 28, 2018 in the comfort of his home. Bill was a proud graduate of Jesup W. Scott High School and The University of Toledo, where he was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

With nearly 40 years of experience working with young people, he became a well-known advocate for children in the Toledo area. From preschoolers to young adults, Bill's versatility was unmatched. He was a big brother, teacher, counselor, and often times a father figure to countless youth. Bill was personable, knowledgeable and a great resource to up-and-coming educators. Bill understood the complexity that many children face, as they strive to meet their goals while facing adversity. This is demonstrated by his desire to make sure all children have access to high quality and engaging activities that support their learning development.

Outside of working with children, he was a die hard Ohio State football fan. He enjoyed playing bid whist and listening to James Brown. Bill was a handyman, and could fix anything. No one whoever met Bill could forget his unique personality; he was intelligent, warm, and caring. Not one for sentiment, etiquette, or religiosity, he was also ornery, stubborn, and very outspoken. Many would say it was his trademark to not hold back his opinion; as he had a knack for telling it like it was. Nonetheless, that's what made him who he was. He was steadfast, consistent, and dependable.

Bill left everyone he met with a lasting memory of him. He also left his family with a heck of a lot of crap in his basement we have no idea what to do with. So, if you're looking for plumbing parts, tools, or old James Brown albums; wait the appropriate time and get in touch. Over the past few months , Bill's fight with cancer at times got the best of him; nonetheless, even during his waning moments he was strong and determined. His feistiness and stubbornness had served him well throughout his life. Tremendous heartfelt thanks to those who thought enough of Bill to see him while he was alive. Love when it can be felt, make peace when it matters most.

He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife, Alvelia (Vett); three sons, William III (BJ), Aaron, and Raymond of Toledo,Ohio; one stepson, Garrett of Bridgeport, Connecticut; three stepdaughters, Eboni, Brianna, and Candace of Toledo, Ohio; one sister, Loretta Pearson of Los Angeles, California; seven precious grandchildren; two special friends, Shannon and Jake of Toledo, Ohio; and a host of other loving relatives and kind friends.
