Obituary for Odessa Lee (McDade)

Odessa was the sixth child of eight children born to Joe and Ethel McDade on August 9, 1923 in Wilmot, Arkansas. She attended a church elementary school and later transferred to Morris Booker Memorial Baptist High School & College combined in Dermott, Arkansas. She loved to cook, sew, and was very particular in how she dressed. She was a giving person and one who met no strangers. Her house always opened to her children's friends. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She was the world's famous word puzzle champion; this was her routine and adventure.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Second Baptist Church in Wilmont, Arkansas under the pastorate of Rev. M.C. Elliot. She was very active in Sunday School, Choir, BYPU, church conventions and she participated in skits. After moving to Chicago, she joined Christian Valley Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Lucious Davis where she continued to be very involved in ministry on the usher board and pastor's committee. She relocated to Toledo 1973 and later united with His Word Global Ministry under Bishop Marvin D. Crittenden, Pastor, where she served until her death. She loved her church and pastor, and that was the highlight of her Sunday, worshiping her Lord and Savior with other believers. She loved to study the word of God and her favorite biblical scriptures was Psalm 1 and Psalm 23.
She was married to Sammy Lee, Sr. of Wilmot, Arkansas for 23 years until his death. She is the mother of nine children; four living children:Patricia McGhee (Frank) of Texas, Sammy Lee Jr. of Arizona, Charles Lee (Tay), and Tony Lee(Christina) of Toledo; five deceased Children: Deloris, Terry, Robert, Ella, Michael, and a grand-son Marquee Lee whom she raised as her own. She later married L.C. Smith who preceded her in death.
Her departure from this earth November 22, 2017 to her Mansion in Heaven, John 14:1-3, is the consummation of the terms and conditions of her spiritual contract made with Jesus years ago. This contract is now paid in full with all the promised benefits. In her absence she leaves behind her four living children, (23) grand-children, (45) great grand-children, and (3) great great grand-children. Two sisters (Bernice Armour of Toledo and Callie P. Cloman of San Antonio, TX) and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. We acknowledge Mr. and Mrs. Roy Collins (her spiritual son and daughter) and her best friend of 28 years, Mrs. Moore of Kenilworth St. We would also like to give special thanks to her niece, Ethel Mae White, for always being of service and a help when needed the most.
She had a great sense of humor and Some of her pithy sayings are: " I'm going to tell you in the front, before it hits you in the behind," and " If I tell you a chicken dips snuff, check under his wings to find the snuff box".
