Mrs. Melverta (Henson) Huntley, 87 died at Darlington Rehabilitation Center, on October 8, 2017. She was born August 6, 1930 in DeKalb, MS. to the late Elmer and Rosie Lee (Griffin) Henson. Melverta graduated from Winston High School in DeKalb, MS. She was united in holy matrimony to the late John Huntley on January 7, 1959 in Monroe, MI. She worked at Toledo Hospital for 30 years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends and taking care of all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great granddaughters.

Melverta is survived by son Robert Huntley and daughters Rosemary Huntley, Ebony Hughes, Josalyn Williams, sisters Lorraine Dunn of Cincinnati, OH, Angelene Henson of Sandusky, OH, and Martha Faye Henson of Chicago and two sister-in-laws, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great great granddaughters, and a host of relatives and friends. Goddaughters Kathy Jackson, Gina and Lisa Hodge. She was preceded in death by her husband John Huntley, parents Elmer and Rosie Lee (Griffin) Henson, brother: Algene, Elmer Lee, Luther, Wes, Floyd - sisters: Effie D. Philon, Ora B. Steele, Annie Ruth Shumate, Lillie Mae Steele.
