Obituary for Keyron Elijah Pettaway

Mr. Keyron Elijah Pettaway was born on August 23, 1993 in Toledo, Ohio to Kenneth Lee Pettaway Jr. and Shanda Marie Gordon. He was called home to be with the Lord on Monday October 2, 2017 at the age of twenty-four.

He was a 2012 graduate of Roy C. Start High School. During his years at Start, he was a member of the band as a saxophonist. He also was a member of the Deca Club.

Family and friends affectionately called him “K Reezy”. He was a devoted Christian that enjoyed helping and encouraging others. Keyron knew that one of his purposes was to help uplift and put a smile on everyone’s face through his charismatic personality.

Keyron was a young man of many talents; his first love for playing basketball landed him his first job immediately after high school with the West Toledo YMCA, as a janitor then later became a youth sports basketball coach. His love for basketball continued and landed him a job with Dick’s Sporting Goods as a cashier where he performed exceptionally well because of his love for meeting new people everyday and his infectious personality. Keyron had also developed a love for entertainment; which included playing congas and piano, singing, dancing, modeling and acting. Keyron had performed in several local plays and modeling events and had future plans to attend acting school in Buford, GA. His love for acting landed him his most recent job with Trapped Toledo, an interactive theater specializing in escape games. He was also known for creating his many miniature skits and videos.

His sister Jazmon Denise Hoskins-Pettaway preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish is memory and celebrate his Homegoing: Mother; Shanda Marie (Dale) Barnhill, Father; Kenneth Lee (Samanda) Pettaway Jr., siblings; Kenneth Lee Pettaway III, Tajuan Pettaway, Tre’sean Pettaway, Mya (Keshawn) Jones, Arieana Pettaway, Jaydon Brown, Kennedi Pettaway, Jatonio Belcher, Jayleonna Pettaway; grandmothers Everly Gordon and Patricia Sibby; grandfather Willie D. Gordon; great grandmother; Barbara Mickles and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and kind friends.
