Marva Marlene  Smith
Mrs. Marva M. Smith, 80 was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 3, 1937. She passed this life on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in UTMC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, sisters; Beverly Edmonds and Sarah Brown,
son; James “Jim” Smith, brother in law Lehman Myers, Sr., nephew; Douglas Robinson and Lawrence
Lewis. Marva attended Toledo Public Schools. She worked as an office manager for the Department of Human Services, presently known as Department of Job and Family Services for 27 years retiring in 1994. Marva was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church since 1962 serving on the usher board, previously treasurer of Pastors Aid and member of Board of Religious Education.
Marva was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Columbus Smith, Sr. on August 7, 1954. To this union four children were born.
Marva is survived by daughters; Patricia Smith and Wanda (Kenny Jones) Boyd, son; Columbus Smith, Jr., special son, Darrell McClellan; granddaughters, Tajuana Boyd and Alexis Smith; special granddaughter,
Tierra McClellan; sisters, Reba Myers, Rosetta (Bishop Verdell) Hickman; brothers, John and Larry
McClellan; godson, Kinzel Forest; special, daughters, Equilla Forest and Gwen Jones; special cousin, Sarah Hall, special friends Lavern Cook and Ethel Files and a host of family and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Youssep Hazimah and Great Lakes Caring for her exceptional care.
Wake service Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10:00 am followed by funeral services at 11:00 am at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 701 Vance Street, Talmadge Thomas, Senior Pastor.
