Obituary for Jimmy Lee Watson

Jimmy Lee  Watson
Mr. Jimmy Lee Watson was born, November 17, 1947, in Collinsville, Mississippi, to the union of I.W. and Rose Watson. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Jimmy L. Watson, passed away, Thursday, August 17, 2017, at the age of 69, at the University of Toledo Medical Center, at 12:45 pm.

Big Jim" received his former education from Kemper County High School, in DeKalb, MS.

"Big Jim" lived in Chicago, IL, for a number of years, moved back to Collinsville, MS., and later migrated to Toledo, OH, in August 1976. He worked at U.S. Reduction, National Casting and A.P. Automotive. He retired in 2003, due to an injury while employed at National Casting.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church in Collinsville, MS. After moving to Toledo, OH, he joined Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church and later joined Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. John E. Roberts.He served on #2 Usher Board at Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church until his health prevented him from standing.

"Big Jim" became a member of R.I.O. #5368 Masonic Lodge in 1973.

He had many hobbies, fishing, church, gardening, and cooking, but most of all, he enjoyed being around family and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Geraldine Holmes-Watson; son, Jimmy Watson, Jr.,(Tanett Williams); daughter, LaTonya R. Watson, (Bryant Wynn); 3 brothers, Billie (Juanita) Watson, Willie and Jerry Watson, all of Collinsville, MS; sister, Carolyn Watson-Walkens(Chris Watkins), of Pensocola, FL; 6 sisters-in-law; a special sister-in-law, that was by his side all of the way, Sarah Holmes-Miller and brother-n-law, Willie Miller, of Toledo, OH; 3 granddaughters, Alexandria, Destinee and Kaylin Watson; grandson, Trystan L. Wynn, that loves to call him Pa Pa; aunts and uncles of Chicago, IL and Mississippi, many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and the Indiana Missionary Baptist Church family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 11:00 am, preceded by a 10:00 am Wake, at Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. John E. Roberts, Pastor and Rev. Robert L. Holmes.
