Sammie Arthur Barnes, 87, passed away, Friday, July 21, 2017.
Sammie accepted Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior at an early age. He was a faithful member ad served on the Deacon Board at the former Guilding Light Tabernacle for over 40 years, until he became ill.
He worked for the former Mather Springs Company, retiring after 44 years.
He was preceded by 6 brothers, and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Pauline; sons, Sammie Lee, John Earl, Dennis; daughters, Mary L. McCraney, Louvenia (Willie B.) Talbert, Jr.; Joyce Ann, Shirlean, Denise (Todd) Harris, all of Toledo, Ohio; sister, Bishop Quillar Grice of Maywood, IL; brother, George Henry Barnes, of Seler, TN; 7 sisters-in-law, 4 brothers-in-law, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017, from 7 - 9:00 pm, at The House of Day Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 28, 2017, at 11:00 am, preceded by a 10:00 am Wake, at Rock of Praise Church, 1632 N. Cove Blvd., Pastor Danny E. Ransey, officiating. Interment, Ottawa Hills Cemetery.
