Obituary for Karen Marie Porter
Karen Marie (Hood) Porter, affectionately known as "K.K.", was born on December 31, 1960, in Toledo, Ohio, to the union of Willie and Verlee Hood, Sr. She departed this life and arrived in the Lord's presence on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 56 years of age.
Karen began a wonderful journey with Christ at Greater St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church, under the watchful tutelage of Pastor Robert W. Lyons, Sr., where she actively served until her death.
Karen attended Spencer Sharples High School in Holland, Ohio. She was employed with Sylvania Schools. She was funny and feisty, with a gentle heartfelt spirit, "K.K." was loved and admired by many. She was adored by her daughters, whom she fondly referred to as her "girls", as well as her grandchildren and great grandbabies.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Hood, Sr., grandson, Jamal Montrell Porter, and brother, Myron Hood.
She continues her legacy, daughters, Sheronda Jones, of Anniston, Alabama, Shareese Jones and Shynell Jones, both of Toledo, Ohio; mother, Verlee R. Hood; brothers, Willie (Rene) Hood, Jr., Michael Hood, Galen R. Hood; sister, Vanessa (Donald) Lynn, all of Toledo, Ohio; 8 grandchildren, Jasmine Purifie, JayeSon, J'onn, Jalen, Jai'Real, Jai'Ciya Cavitt, Zion Matthews, and SaNiyah Silva;2 great grandchildren, Josiah and Kimiah Groom; and a host of tremendous host of nieces, nephews, relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 20,2017, at 11:00 am preceded by a 10:00 am Wake, at Greater St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Robert W. Lyons, Sr.
