Sylvester "Syl", "Sy" Jackson, age 81, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2017, surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 18, 1936, in Port Huron, Michigan, where he was raised by Evelyn (Thomas) and Eddie Russell. After graduating from Port Huron H.S., Sylvester joined the United States Army and earned a spot on the Fort Riley boxing team. Sylvester travelled throughout Europe as he proudly served and represented his country.
Sy worked for the United States Postal Service for 37 years and later at Marshall & Melhorn LLC .
His zeal for life was obvious in everything he did but his love for God and family was most pronounced.
Syl is survived by his wife Betty of 58 years, daughter Cheryl (Frankie) Jackson-Colleli, son Edward Kent Jackson, granddaughters Chamerra Jackson and Khi Jackson, grandson Chè Jackson, special aunt Feena Hoskins and many loving cousins and extended family.
