Marguerite Barry affectionately known as “Rita” entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 27, 2017 at age of 80 years old. She was born on November 6, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio to parents James Sr. & Lee Anna Hueston; as the second of 9 children to the couple.

Rita received the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior, and was baptized at a very young at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio under Reverend Benton. Around the Hueston home Rita could be found helping her mother with domestic duties and caring for her younger siblings. She attended Gunkel Elementary School, Jones Middle School and graduated from Libby High School in 1955. Following graduation she married Harvey Barry, they were blessed with five children; Phillip, Marsha*, Pamela*, Patricia, and Penelope Barry. Later she was blessed with another son, Andre Daniels Sr.

Career: Rita was an avid worker with a disciplined nature and high work ethics committed to providing for her children. Throughout her life, she held numerous of jobs to include, Apollo bowling alley, Hostess bakery, and Darlington House Nursing Home. After working 32 years as a Mental Health Nurse at the State of Ohio State Hospital in Toledo, Ohio she retired in 1996.

Church: Marguerite was a faithful member of the New Prospect Baptist Church for the past 50 years where she joined under Reverend Luther Howard. There she served as the Superintendent of Sunday School; Missionary, Guild Girls Leader, Usher Board, Choir, Kitchen Ministry and Ministry of helps serving the beavered families. A servant at heart and always willing to lend hand where needed, she also provided crochet blankets to mothers and cancer patients.

Community: Rita was a volunteer and poll worker during the General Board Elections, Democratic Party and an active member of the neighborhood block watch.

Hobbies: Rita hobbies included Bowling, Crocheting, Cooking, and Baking, studying the word of God, and time with her grandchildren and traveling. Many neighbors, family, and friends near and far could be found at Rita’s home on Fernwood for a cup of coffee, a slice of warm sweet potato pie, or a scoop of banana pudding, homemade biscuits or a good Sunday home cooked dinner.

Marguerite Barry was delight to all who knew and loved her. Her gentle and loving nature, kind heart, patient temperament and legacy will continue to touch and inspire us all.

She was preceded in Death by; Parents James and Lee Anna Hueston, Favorite Aunt Altee Green “Sissy”, Two Daughters Marsha & Pamela Barry, One Brother James Hueston Jr. and her Late Husband Harvey Barry.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory and continue her legacy;
4 beautiful children: Phillip (Dorothy) Barry Sr., Patricia Barry, Penelope (Arnold) Vaughn, and Andre Daniels (Rochelle Gray).
19 Grandchildren: Tasha (Rick) Epps, Scharita (Michael) Lacey, Larry Patterson, Patrick Patrick, Breon Strozier, Jarrett Williams, Bryce Barry, Markest Barry, Leslie Barry, Sharice Barry, Phillip Barry Jr.,
Rodney (Sade), Roland (Eshawna), Ramsey Quinn, and Tanasia Daniels, Asia Daniels, Andreya Daniels, Andre Daniels Jr, Taneya Daniels. 32 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great grandchild
8 Siblings: Lionel Hueston, Sandra Minor, Jean (Ed) Rayford, Melvin (Gwen) Hueston, Sharon HuestonJohn (Dana) Hueston, Kevin (Gayle) Hueston, and Brenda Hueston. Her only living aunt Rose Bethea.
