Irving Arthur
Irving Arthur Green, better known as Spud, or Handsome Green, was born on January 9, 1925, in Toledo, OH. He was born to the late Ellis McCloud and Corine Davis. He passed away on Monday February 6, 2017 at the age of 92. Irving spent all of his childhood days in Toledo, OH, attending Gunkel Elementary and Scott High School. In 1953, he married the love of his life, Lydia Marie Williams. He was one of the last Tuskegee Airman who served with the 477th Bomber Squadron as a mechanic engineer and crew chief. He was a trained mechanic for B-25 Mitchells and P-47 Thunderbolts. Irving was honorably discharged from the military service of the United States of America at Camp Atterbury, IN on February 13, 1946. He was previously employed with Doehler Jarvis, Toledo. He retired from Chrysler Corporation, Kokomo, IN after 30 years. He also volunteered at the J. Frank Troy Center as a kitchen helper.
Celebration of life will be Tuesday, February 14, 2017 Wake 12:00 p.m. Service 1:00 p.m. at First Church of God, 3016, Collingwood Blvd., Toledo, OH 43610.
Irving was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; sister, Ethel Jackson; sons, Kenneth and Irving Green Jr.; daughter, Dana Green.
