OBITUARY
MRS SUSIE M. HUDSON (STRONG) WAS BORN TO THE UNION OF SAMUEL AND BLOSSIE M. STRONG IN MARION, ALABAMA ON JULY 27, 1919. SHE TRANSITIONED PEACEFULLY HOME TO GOD ON JUNE 24, 2017 AT THE AGE OF 98 IN THE SUNSET VILLAGE RETIREMENT HOME IN SYLVANIA, OHIO AT 9:15 PM. SHE IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY BOTH PARENTS AND 2 SISTERS RUTH JUDGE AND GURTHER YOUNG. SUSIE CONFESSED HER FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST AT THE AGE OF TWELVE AND WAS BAPTIZED AT THE MOUNT OLIVE BAPTIST CHURCH IN MARION, ALABAMA.
ON DECEMBER 24, 1942, SHE WAS UNITED IN HOLY MATRIMONY TO MR. CLINTON HUNTER IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA. TO THIS UNION ONE DAUGHTER WAS BORN, VERA M. HUNTER (NOW VERA M. RICE). SUSIE ATTENDED THE HIGHLY REOWNED LINCOLN NORMAL SCHOOL FOR HER MIDDLE GRADES AND A PORTION OF HER HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION WHERE ONE OF HER CLASSMATES WAS THE LATE MRS. MARTIN LUTHER KING. IN HER YOUTH, SHE WAS KNOWN FOR HER SINGING IN THE “BABY STRONG QUARTET WITH HER 3 SISTERS IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA IN HER YOUTH AND WAS A FAITHFUL AND DEDICATED MEMBER OF THE INSPIRATIONAL MASS CHOIR UNTIL THE AGE OF 80 WHEN SHE LEFT CINCINNATI, OHIO.
SHE RELOCATED TO CINCINNATI, OHIO IN 1949 FROM BIRMINGHAM, ALABAM AND MARRIED JAMES HUDSON, HER HUSBAND FOR 25 YEARS UNTIL HIS DEATH. THEN, MOVED TO TOLEDO, OHIO IN 1999 TO BE NEAR HER DAUGHTER (VERA). SHE WAS A FAITHFUL MEMBER OF THE BODY OF CHRIST SERVING IN CHURCHES: ST LUKE BAPTIST AND ZION BAPTIST IN CINCINNATI, OHIO SERVING IN THE GENERAL MISSIONARY SOCIETY KNOWN AS THE REBEKAH CIRCLE AND JOINED FRIENDSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH UPON HER ARRIVAL IN TOLEDO, OHIO.
SUSIE LEAVES TO CHERISH HER MEMORIES, A LOVING DAUGHTER, VERA M. RICE, A DEVOTED SON-IN-LAW (CHARLES RICE III), HER BROTHER SAM STRONG OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN, HER SISTER CATHERINE COLLIER OF TOLEDO, OHIO, GRANDSON C.EDWARD RICE OF COLUMBUS, OHIO, GRANDDAUGHTER, KATHRYN (WILLIAM) RICE MORRIS OF IRVINE CALIFORNIA, GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER, MADISYN MORRIS, NEPHEWS: WALTER WILLIAMS, COREY TUCK AND A HOST OF OTHER NIECES, NEPHEWS AND COUSINS.
