Obituary for Anna Marie Lawson

Anna Marie  Lawson
Mother Anna Marie Lawson was born to Lula Hart and Sam Jones on June 22, 1917 in Hickman, KY. She came to Toledo as an infant and attended Gunckel Elementary School and Scott High School.
She departed this life peacefully in her sleep on July 14, 2016 at the age of 99.
Anna confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior Wednesday, January 12, 1930 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church,
where the late Rev. Elijah Benton was pastor. She was baptized on the first Sunday of February, 1930. There she was a Sunday school teacher and choir member.
On July 25, 1965 she joined her brother, the late Pastor Dr. Otis W. Jones to help form Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and was one of five charter members. Anna was a faithful member, Sunday school teacher, choir member and served on the mother’s board. In 2004 Mother Lawson united with Indiana Missionary
Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. John Roberts and served on the mother’s board. Because of
her disability in September 2012 she went to Lake Park Nursing Facility and then to Laurels of Toledo until her
death. Mother Lawson’s favorite scripture was Psalms 31 “In thee O LORD I put my trust; ...”
Anna received her Ohio State Board of Cosmetology license and was a member of the Ohio Beauticians Association. She worked at various beauty salons.Her last place of employment was White Beauty Salon in Toledo, OH. Mother Lawson enjoyed working as a beautician for over 40 years, until her health failed. She
also was a seamstress and loved basketball.
She was preceded in death by parents, Lula and Sam Jones; brother, Rev. Dr. Otis W. Jones; husbands, Samuel E. Gayton, Rev. Theodore Easley, Deacon Ernest Lawson Sr; daughter, Mary Frances Quinn; son, Kenneth Theodore Easley; granddaughters, Doreen Stuart and Janine Stuart. Anna Marie is survived by her grandson, James Rickman; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces, Carolyn (Willie) Grant, Heather Jones; nephew, Otis Lemar (Connie) Jones; special daughter, Marguerite Morton, Indiana M.B. Church Family, cousins, and a host of friends and well wishers.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016 preceded by wake services at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 6:00 p.m. at The House of Day Funeral Home. Pastor John E. Roberts officiant.
