Leah Loretta Burks-Quarles was born on September 17, 1926, to the late John Henry Burks and Roxie Luray Brown-Burks in Buchanan, Virginia. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 30, 2007, at the age of 80. She moved to Toledo, OH, in 1948 where she was employed at Riverside Hospital and later at The Toledo Medical Center as an activity therapist where she retired in 1993. Loretta was united in marriage to Degusta Quarles Jr. in 1953. To this union one daughter was born, Sandra Quarles. Loretta was a loyal member of Ascension Lutheran Church for fifty plus years. She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Sandra; a special niece, Bobbie Burks; many other nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 5, 2007, 11 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1326 Collingwood, preceded by wake services at 10 a.m. Visitation services will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at The House of Day Funeral Services Chapel.
