Obituary for Karen Marie Vassar

Karen Marie Vassar, nee Dotson, who died unexpectedly in her home, was greeted by heaven's angels early Monday morning, October 4, 2010. Karen was born November 7, 1964, in Toledo, Ohio to James and Marian Dotson. Karen attended Scott High School. She married Earl Vassar in 1984 and together they had three children, twins, Tiesha and Terrence, and India. Karen was enrolled in Truck Driving Instructions until she became disabled due to illness.

Karen was the seventh girl and the youngest of fourteen children. She was lovingly called "Karamia." Karen was baptized as a young girl in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Karen enjoyed singing, listening to music and cooking. Her favorite television entertainment was investigative series, mysteries and the scary movies. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. After becoming disabled, Karen was a homemaker until she became "Grandma." Then her time was spent babysitting and doting on her grandchildren who were the apple of her eye and brought her much joy.

Karen was predeceased by parents; James and Marian Dotson, sisters, Sherrie and Anita Dotson, brother, Michael Dotson and grandson Kamern Marshall.

Karne leaves to cherish her memory; husband, Earl Vassar; children, Tiesha and Terrence Vasser and India (LaShaun) Jones; grandchildren; Kahaliyah Booth-Vassar, Asia and Israel Jones, Nakia, Kyrra, Taniah, Krystal and Heaven Vassar; sisters, Shelia (Stephen) Googins, Sandra (Oscar) Temple, Emily Hopings, and Monica (George) Everett; brothers, Rev. Gerald, James, Jr., William (Valarie), Averil (Lisa) and Keith Dotson of Toledo, Ohio and Rev. Robbie (Carol) Dotson of Georgia; special friend, Dennis Anderson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Great Light Tabernacle, 735 South St. Clair St., Rev. Paul Gartee.
