Obituary for James Earvin Amison Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 1:00 pm, at the House of Day Funeral Home. Our beloved Mr. James Earvin (Irvin) Amison, Sr., passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at his home. He was born Friday, August 9, 1946, in West Greene, AL, to the late Jesse Amison, Sr. and the late Vendora Naves. James attended Scott High School and from there, joined the Army in 1966, where he was honorably discharged. James was a Laborer for Local 500 until his disability. Over the years James, acquired many nicknames, such as Sonny, Amos and Famous. He was a jokester who loved his old Western movies, tinkering, reading and hanging out with his buddies. James was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Jesse Amison, Jr. and George Amison, Sr. He leaves behind 6 beautiful children, Stephanie Perkins of Sacramento, CA, Chevella Mitchell of Toledo, OH, James (Sandy) Amison, Jr., of Toledo, OH, Anthony (Neai) Amison of Holland, OH Sr., of Holland, OH., La'Kesha (Timothy) Self of Toledo, OH and Travis Amison of Toledo, OH; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; special nephew, David Amison, Sr. of Toledo, OH and a host of loving relatives and friends.
