Obituary for Karen L. Adams

Services are 11:00 am February 24, 2016 preceded by wake services at 10:00 am at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. Karen Lee Adams, born April 30, 1943 in Toledo, Ohio exchanged earthly life for an eternal joy, on February 18, 2016 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. Karen was the third child of four children born to Reverend Clyde Adams and Cordia Mae Adams (deceased). During her formative years Karen was raised by Deacon Otto Adams (deceased) and Josie Adams (deceased). Karen graduated from Scott High School in Toledo, Ohio. “Once a Bulldog Always a Bulldog.” She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education and Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio. Karen became a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Upon graduation Karen worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools as a teacher and principal for over 30 years. She then retired, enjoying the rest of her life caring for nieces and nephews, also giving special attention to her 101 year old father. Karen accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Pilgrim Church in Toledo, Ohio. As a child she learned the Golden Rule, “To love your neighbor as yourself.” She lived her life caring for others. Throughout her educational career she treated students as though they were her own children. Karen’s light shined brightly on their lives helping to develop and guide their futures. She was also highly regarded by family and friends because of her willingness to be helpful. Karen enjoyed reading, playing tennis, traveling, shopping and spending time with family and friends. Karen was a very kind and gentle soul with a loving and generous heart. She was preceded in death by her mother Cordia Mae Adams and her sister Gloria Jean Adams-Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory: her father, Reverend Clyde Adams, Southfield, Michigan; her two brothers, Deacon Joseph Adams, West Bloomfield, Michigan and John Adams, Southfield, Michigan: and many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her family and friends will always be grateful for the gift of her presence in their lives. Services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, preceded by wake service at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Raymond Bishop officiant.
