Our Condolence and prayer to the Lyons family. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 2:00 pm, proceeded by a wake at 1:00 pm at St. Martin De Porres, 1119 W. Bancroft. Gertrude Mae Lyons was born August 19, 1930, in Harlem, New York to Fannie White and Earl Towns. She was very active on several committees within the Catholic Church. From her humble beginnings as a maid, through hard work, Gertrude was able to earn her Associates degree and become Director of Affirmative Action for the City of Toledo. She married Pinkey Lyons with whom she had four children. She had a great sense of humor, loved cooking, gardening, sewing, knitting, crossstitching, and spending time with her family. She leaves behind her legacy children, Liana Lyons, M. Kenneth Lyons, Curtis Lyons, J. Lyons, Earth Lyons, Aries Lyons and Marketa Lyons. She joins in heaven, Pinkey Lyons, Toni Lyons, Curtis Pace, Ora Dick, Roberta White, Valentina and parents. She is unparalleled and will be greatly missed by all of her family, a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends. We are tasked with the responsibility to continue her legacy and we shall do so with fortitude.
