Obituary for Lydia Ann Fontno

Lydia A. Fontno was one of four children. She was born in Los Angeles, California and was the daughter of James and Elva Wilcher. Lydia grew up and attended school in Lorain, Ohio. After she graduated from Lorain High School, she attended the Art Institute of Pittsburg where she received her degree in Graphic Art and Design. Her first job as an Art Illustrator was in Akron, Ohio. Lydia later moved to Toledo, Ohio where she continued her design career with Libby Glass. She also enjoyed a long career in retail with Elder Berman’s. In addition, Lydia’s artistic talents were demonstrated through several major free-lance projects such as; the design of the mural poster for Toledo’s Old West End Festival and the logo for Marco’s Pizza. Lydia met her partner and “friend” Jose R. Scott in Toledo and they shared a long and wonderful relationship. Lydia was a loving and devoted mother, daughter and sister. She enjoyed traveling, music (jazz) and of course art. Lydia was preceded in death by her father James Wilcher. She is survived by her son, Sean Fontno (Julianne), her mother, Elva Wilcher (Cleveland, Ohio), her three sisters, Constance Cooper (Hewitt), Carole Wilcher-Williams (Lingburge), and Barbara Wilcher-Norton (Robert), her partner, Jose R. Scott (Toledo, Ohio) and one granddaughter, Sean Fontno (North Carolina) and a host of nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015, at The House of Day Funeral Services.
